Discovery World and Milwaukee are toasting the birth of Serbian-American inventor, Nikola Tesla.

Enter your Tesla cocktail recipe and the first 10 entries receive a Tesla Lives! t-shirt.

Who is Nikola Tesla?
Nikola Tesla (1865-1943) harnessed the power of Niagara Falls and electrified the world. He invented the robot, the alternating current motor, radio, the remote control, neon lights, the Death Ray, and the spark plug. In other words, Nikola Tesla invented our modern world.

We know you are creative, dynamic innovators in your own right. We’d like you to invent the Nikola Tesla, a Tesla-themed martini or cocktail. Scroll to bottom of the page to see the recipe board with the first three entries that were served at the August 19 event.

Submit your entry in the forum.

Rules:

Your drink must contain Tesla’s name in its name.

We recommend that the drink contains one of the following, Absinthe, Slivovitz or electricity, but it’s your concoction so feel free to add what you like.

Information:

Create a drink. Share it’s mixology with other Tesla connoisseurs. Post your creation in the forum.

The first 10 entries will receive one Tesla Lives! T-shirt and two Tesla Lives! show passes

We’ll serve your recipe at our next VIP show or fundraising events

Help Discovery World give Nikola Tesla the celebration he deserves. For more information, contact Colleen Wendorff @ 765-8657.

Entering:

Submit your entry in the forum.

Which of your special effects are real and which are faked? – Jack M., Elm Grove

There is one section of the show where we describe Tesla’s grand finale to his demonstration at the World’s Fair, and how he shot electricity from his fingertips. At that point, we project lightning onto the back wall to give an idea of what that effect might look like, but there is no actual electricity coming from the presenter’s fingers at that point. That demonstration is extremely difficult to perform safely, and to try and recreate it several times a day, in a show as fast-moving as Tesla Lives!, would be magnificently dangerous.

We don’t fake ANY demonstrations during the show. Everything you see onstage is absolutely real – we really light up a flourescent bulb wirelessly, throw and catch lightning, conduct electricity through HUMAN BEINGS, and all the rest. One of our goals for the show was to stay away from trickery and mystery. While we do a lot of flashy stuff onstage, and can create some amazing visual effects with the equipment we have, we also do our best to explain the science behind everything the audience sees. Obviously, due to time constraints we can’t go into as much detail as we’d like sometimes, but that’s what this website is for.

Check out the Videos section for a more in-depth look at some of the equipment and effects we employ during the show. And keep asking questions!
